Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston to Donate 4,000 Turkeys to Area Nonprofits and Military Through its Turkeys for the Triangle Program

Real estate company partners with Butterball® to feed a record 16,000 people for the holidays

Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston (CBHPW), the leading real estate company in the Triangle area, will distribute a record 4,000 turkeys, 1,500 of which will be donated by Garner-based Butterball, to more than 60 local charities as well as active military and veterans through its annual Turkeys for the Triangle program. The first distribution event, known as a “turkey toss,” will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at CBHPW’s headquarters on Wade Avenue with the help of company staff, Butterball representatives and members of the U.S. Veterans Corp. A second “turkey toss” will take place in mid-December just in time for Christmas.

In operation for more than a decade, CBHPW’s Turkeys for the Triangle is a collective effort of the company’s agents and staff who sell raffle tickets during the holiday season to raise money to fund the purchase of the special birds. Throughout the years, Turkeys for the Triangle has donated over 20,000 turkeys to anchor holiday meals for more than 90,000 people.

“The holidays are a time for nourishment. A time to gather with family and friends and be grateful for all that we have. It’s also a time to remember those who need our support,” said Don Walston, Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston Founder and Chairman. “Our organization started the Turkeys for the Triangle program years ago to help feed our Triangle neighbors in their time of need. We’re excited to partner with Butterball to extend our turkey donation efforts and support even more people this holiday season.”

Turkeys for the Triangle partnered with Butterball again this year to significantly increase its annual turkey donation and help support more food-insecure families in and around Wake, Durham, Johnston, Orange and Alamance Counties. The 1,500 turkeys Butterball will donate to Turkeys for the Triangle are part of its annual Thanksgiving outreach efforts.

Butterball, LLC President and CEO Kerry Doughty said, “Thanksgiving is a time to reflect and give thanks. At Butterball, we’re thankful for the ability to be an active participant in our community by donating turkeys, and we’re proud to stand with other corporate citizens that value helping those who are less fortunate by providing a holiday meal. It is our hope that everyone have a happy Thanksgiving.”

This year, Turkeys for the Triangle volunteers will handout turkeys to pre-selected organizations* including the:
* USO;
* U.S. Veterans Corp;
* Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina;
* Fuquay-Varina Emergency Food Pantry;
* Garner Area Ministries Food Pantry;
* Raleigh Rescue Mission; and other charities supported by CBHPW agents.

*Recipient organizations were pre-selected to receive the turkey donations. Turkeys will not be available for other organizations or individuals who show up at the event without prior notification.

Turkeys for the Triangle fundraiser is still underway, CBHPW agents and staff will continue to sell raffle tickets for the Turkeys for the Triangle fundraiser through Wednesday, Dec. 9 to gather funds to support the second holiday turkey donation on Friday, Dec. 18. Raffle prizes include the opportunity to drive a 2016 Lexus ES 350 from Johnson Lexus free for one year, a $1,000 gift card to Bailey’s Fine Jewelry, a $1,000 gift card to Crabtree Mall, an Apple Watch, VIP seats to a Carolina Hurricanes game and more.
